• Provide and maintain fall protection at all access and work areas near liquid bodies, including approved guardrails, fully decked and guarded platforms, and clearly defined safe access and egress.
  • Establish Exclusion Zones where there is a risk of falling into liquid bodies or exposure to uncontrolled water-related hazards, physically prevent entry using barriers, edge protection, or signage, and ensure no persons enter unless controls are in place and the work is authorised.
  • Establish Restricted Access Zones where work near or over liquid bodies is required, clearly demarcate the area, restrict entry to authorised persons only, ensure personal flotation devices are worn, and use buoys, markers, or other controls to separate work activities from vessel or diving operations.
  • Approved life buoys and lifelines must be secured and correctly positioned adjacent to ladder access for a work area and provided with sufficient line to reach the water level.
  • Only quick release tool belts are to be worn.
  • Any safety critical faults/damage must be tagged out of service and immediately reported to the relevant supervisor. The equipment must not to be used until the issue has been rectified.
