- Pedestrian and Traffic Management
- Physically separate pedestrian access routes from road and rail traffic and plant operating areas and provide clearly designated and controlled access and crossing points to prevent interaction.
- Establish Exclusion Zones where there is a risk of injury from live road or rail traffic or uncontrolled hazards, physically prevent entry using barriers, protection, and signage, and ensure no persons enter unless traffic movements are stopped or controlled.
- Establish Restricted Access Zones where work or crossing must occur near controlled road or rail traffic, clearly demarcate the area, restrict entry to authorised persons only, ensure vehicles and rail movements are stopped or positively controlled before entry, and actively monitor movements to protect people from harm.
- Overhead Services and Plant Movements
- Overhead services and structures are to be identified, and appropriate control measures implemented to prevent collision by mobile plant and vehicles.
- Communication
- A reliable means of communication must be established between mobile plant, vehicles and people on the ground to manage mobile plant movements.
- Plant Safety Critical Check
- Any safety critical faults/damage must be tagged out and immediately reported to the relevant supervisor. The plant must not be used until the issue has been rectified.
